UP: the new standard for modular and multi-disciplinary hydrofoils
The UP is a foiling platform that has been developed to make foiling easier and more accessible, marking a new standard with its modular and versatile design. Il works well for surf & SUP foil, but is also suitable for wind, wing, wake and kitefoil. It is a no brainer.

The UP foil is made of modular elements, allowing it to adapt easily to the conditions and your desired performance. It meets a strong market demand for versatile foils enabling easy performance.

Given its high modularity, we created the guide below to guide you through the configuration process.


Which UP configuration should you adopt?


1. Selecting a mast

  • UP Aluminium: the perfect all-around mast, ideal for learning. It is very efficient across every foiling practice: windfoil, wingfoil, wakefoil, kitefoil. You can choose between three mast sizes: 55, 65 or 75 cm.
  • UP Carbon: the versatile and high-performance mast. It is suitable for anyone looking for performance. The UP Carbon comes in one size (80cm) and is made of carbon HR for greater rigidity, stability and speed.


2. Selecting a front wing

Choosing the right front wing is  important as it changes the accessibility of the foil. We offer 3 UP front wings with different geometries:

  • the UP 1250 front wing offers great speed and responsiveness. It is perfect for tight turns, surfing, wing foiling, kitefoiling or even windfoiling (for lighter weights).
  • the UP 1600 front wing offers an excellent mix between stability and speed. It is the most versatile wing in the range.
  • the UP 2000 front wing offers a very early take-off and great lift. It is therefore best suited for heavier weights and practices like downwind and SUP.

The UP is equipped with the Standard Windfoil Mount. It means that you can mount all wings in the windfoil range with this foil. If you want to boost the performance of your UP foil, you can equip it with:

  • the FREERACE 1050 WF is perfect for medium winds and a freerace program. It can boost the average speed by more than 10 knots and offers impressive upwind/downwind performance. Ideally, it should be used with the 45 or 34 stabilizer (see below: selecting a rear stabilizer).
  • the FREERACE 80 WF is the ultimate tool for wingfoil performance, and will reach its full potential in winds above 20 knots with speeds close to 30 knots! Thrills guaranteed... The Freerace 80 WF must be equipped with the 45 stabilizer (see below: selecting a rear stabilizer).


3. Selecting a rear stabilizer

The stabilizer is a critical element for adapting your UP to the desired navigation program. All stabilizers in the TAAROA range (Kitefoil and Windfoil ranges) are compatible with the UP. We have grouped them into two categories:

Freeride/ Performance:

  • The FREERACE 45 WF stabilizer for enhanced stability and gliding.
  • The FREERIDE 34 KF stabilizer for enhanced stability and gliding and weights up to 75 kg.
  • The RACE 37 KF stabilizer for speed and enhanced gliding, recommended to experienced riders.

Wave/ Maneuverability:

  • The FREERIDE 42 WF stabilizer brings the UP close to perfect balance on all three axes of pitch/roll/yaw for a wave and maneuvering program.
  • The WAVE 36 KF stabilizer is very close to the 42, with more glide and maneuverability. It is designed for intermediate to advanced riders and lighter weights.


4. How to set up your UP ?

The foil's position on the board is essential to determine its performance. You can find the best setting by changing its position on the board and also adjusting the stabilizer's angle.

We advise you to place the UP in the middle of the rails and move the stabilizer backwards. It is very important not to use straps at first, as it will let you find your balance more naturally. Once you have found your balance on the board, you can move the UP forward or backward in order to adjust your balance position on the board.

Then you can adjust the stabilizer setting. When the stabilizer is moved backwards, the characteristics will be :

  • Very stable in pitch
  • Strong pressure on the front leg when speed increases
  • Tendency to come out of the water
  • Lack of maneuverability

When the stabilizer is advanced to its maximum the characteristics will be:

  • Unstable in pitch
  • Lack of pressure on the front leg
  • Foil tends to dive when speed increases
  • High maneuverability
