The length of a fuselage changes the position of the front and rear wings relative to the mast, thus changing the balance of the foil. A longer mast is optimized for bigger sail surfaces, a shorter mast for lighter weights and smaller sails. 

At TAAROA, the foil configuration is such that the wing-to-fuselage attachments are located at the most extreme points of the fuselage, which is not the case for other foils. Therefore, in terms of distance between the front wing and the stabilizer, a 75cm TAAROA fuselage is equivalent to a 85cm fuselage for other brands. A 85cm TAAROA fuselage will then be equivalent to a 95cm fuselage for another brand.

We recommend a fuselage with a length of 75cm for beginners and casual freeride, and a length of 85cm for people looking for more performance in freeride or freerace using bigger sail surfaces.

First, titanium is corrosion-resistant and very rigid which makes it totally unalterable! Therefore the warranty for our titanium fuselages is 10 years. 

Also, we have realized during computer simulations that our aluminium fuselages warp a little at high speed (~ 3-4 mm, subject to the force applied by the wings). Thus, it changes the balance of the foil. With titanium, a more rigid material, that deformation is limited to 1 mm; it then gives more stability at high speed (equivalent to a fuselage of 100 cm in aluminium). 

In summary: titanium is perfect for everyone who wants to invest in a high-performance product in the long run.

D’abord, le titane est un matériau résistant à la corrosion et très rigide ce qui le rend totalement inaltérable ! Les fuselages en titane sont donc garantis 10 ans chez TAAROA.

D’autre part, lors de simulations par ordinateur des déformations de nos fuselages en aluminium (soumis à la force exercée par les ailes), nous observons une déformation à l'avant du fuselage à haute vitesse (~ 3-4 mm). Cela change donc l'équilibre du foil. 

Avec le titane, matériau plus rigide, cette déformation se limite à 1 mm; ce qui donne plus de stabilité à haute vitesse (équivalent à un fuselage de 100 cm en aluminium).

En résumé: le titane se destine à tous ceux qui veulent investir à long terme dans un produit très performant.

Ainsi, en terme de distance réelle entre l’aile avant et le stabilisateur, un fuselage de 75cm chez TAAROA “correspond” en réalité à une fuselage de 85cm pour les autres marques. Un fuselage de 85cm chez TAAROA sera alors l'équivalent d’un fuselage de 95cm pour les autres marques.

Nous recommandons l'utilisation d’un fuselage de 75cm pour une pratique freeride débutante, et un fuselage de 85cm pour des personnes en recherche de performance en freeride ou freerace avec des surfaces de voile plus importantes.

How long have you been into foiling?

It has been fifteen years since I tried kitefoiling for the first time. I have always ben fascinated by water sports and aviation. Kitefoiling has been my way to combine both passions.

What is your favorite TAAROA foil?

My daily foil is the JOY CARBON 90. It is by far the most progressive foil on the market, but still very rigid thanks to its carbon mast and wings. its front wing profile benefits from TAAROA's years of experience in R&D, which gives the foil unique acceleration and speed. That said, my favorite remains the SWORD 108 UHM. I have never driven a race car but I imagine it's quite similar as riding that foil: powerful stable and incredibly fast. Adding a titanium fuselage takes the foil to a new level of rigidity and performance that's simply unmatched.

What advice would you give to someone starting foiling?

Ask me anything in the forum! Simply join, I'll be happy to help. Generally I think it's important to tailor your gear to the kind of foiling you are looking to do - there are a lot of variations, so finding the right fit is the key.

How long have you been into windfoiling?

I have been windsurfing at a professional level for almost twenty years. Ten years ago, someone in Marseille put a foil in my hands and I was hooked instantly. It just opened a new dimension in windsurfing.

Why did you choose TAAROA foils?

What does the evolution of foiling look like in the coming years?

I believe we'll see a lot of innovation, especially in the materials like titanium for example, which brings unmatched rigidity and performance. I'm confident foils will become safer and easier to use thanks to technology. To that point, TAAROA is working on some very cool projects - I'll share more on the forum soon!
